Ghostwriter Vs Co-Writer (Editorial)

Ghostwriter Vs Co-Writer (Editorial)

Ghostwriting is a taboo matter in the music industry, but let's have a friendly conversation.
Let's break the ice with some performers who use ghostwriters in the American music industry.

  • Jay-Z composed the song called Still Dre for Dr. Dre.
  • Jay-Z wrote Get Me Home for Foxy Brown
  • Ice Cube wrote Boyz N the Hood for Eazy E

Let me be clear !!! I have no idea who uses a ghostwriter in the Quebec music industry, as I wrote in my remarks, this is a sensitive subject.
I'm walking on eggshells at this moment and I don't want to rub anyone the wrong way.

From the gecko, let me tell you if you use a ghostwriter you are not an artist, you are merely an interpreter/performer case close.
In my book, an artist is someone who takes the time to compose a song through songwriting, don't be a poser.
RAP stands for Rhythm And Poetry, if someone does it for you, sorry boo boo you a fraud.
The RAP Game is a colosseum and all the artists are gladiators. THIS IS SPARTA !!!!!
As music enthusiasts, we want the cream of the crop, the best of the best and the most genuine. (No fake Microsoft Windows it is a tech joke)

I don't have any trouble with co-writers this is a symbiote type of work like VENOM both artists put their flavour into the song.
A co-writers will work with the artist and take the credit.
My problem is those who claim to be artists and will take all the glory and lie to us about their writing abilities.
Funny thing Cyrano de Bergerac was a ghostwriter for one of his military friends. (This soldier is a FRAUD)
If the information was leaked about an artist involved in this type of activity, he or she will lose all credibility as a lyricist.
I guess that is why having a ghostwriter is frowned upon in the Hip-Hop culture.

My last word on this topic is, don't pretend to be somebody you are not and try to blend in the culture if you don't want to put in the work.
Respect yourself as an artist and the movement.
